So… I’m finally doing it! I’ve started a blog.
A lot of people think about starting a blog but never actually do it, or they do and they forget about it after a while. For me, I just wasn’t that interested in anything. Sure, I like food and music and sports, but what can I write about that thousands haven’t already made blog posts about?
During my first year of University, I developed a sudden interest in two things: fashion and music. I was constantly checking out different brands and trends and styles, and since the start of University, I’ve managed to see around 35 artists live, compared to the mere four beforehand. This number will only increase with time – in fact, right now I have 7 artists lined up to see – and no doubt, I will be keeping up with the latest trends and styles, and any upcoming music and clothes releases.
My music taste is similar to my taste in fashion: I like a bit of everything.
Here’s a list of only a few people I’ve seen live: Florence and the Machine, Kendrick Lamar, Lewis Watson, The Weeknd, Jon Bellion, Stormzy, Clean Bandit, Adele, Years and Years.
Some of my favourite brands are: H&M, Pull&Bear, Weekday, Topman, ASOS, OtherUK, Comme des Garcons, Adidas.
My fashion sense is a little bit more complicated to explain. I can’t remember the last time I bought an item of clothing from the women’s section unless it’s a pair of shoes! About 80% of my wardrobe is from the men’s section so you can imagine how all five foot two and a half of me struggles to find clothes that actually fit me. Over the past few months, I’ve come to know what I like and what I don’t like and I hope that this blog can act as a capsule of different outfits that I can one day call my personal style.
What should you expect from me?
Outfit posts! More commonly known on Instagram as Outfit of The Day/What Did You Wear Today? (#OOTD/#WDYWT). I’m really enjoying posting outfit photos on Instagram, however the one thing I want to do more often is give my opinion on the clothes that I’m wearing, which is something that I couldn’t do on my Instagram posts as I was limited to a caption and a few hashtags. Moreover, I want to go into more depth about how I choose my outfits and where I buy certain items of clothing from.
As well as outfit posts, I will be discussing any gigs/concerts/festivals that I’m going to or have recently attended. There are so many concerts that I wish I could’ve written more than 140 characters about, told a story that lasted more than 24 hours, and posted a photo with more than just a caption and a hashtag! I have quite a few lined up in the future, so definitely expect gig/concert reviews from me.
Furthermore, I’d quite like to write about any latest pickups (LPUs – you’re going to learn a lot of abbreviations from me) that I have. Often, my LPUs only get ten seconds of attention from my friends on Snapchat – one line of text can’t really capture my excitement and thoughts on an item of clothing! As well as that, I also hope to discuss any new music releases that I’ve had on repeat. Yes, I’m one of those people who will have one album on repeat for a month. This month, it’s Sza’s CTRL, who, by the way, I’m seeing live in November on tour with Bryson Tiller!
