It’s been a very rainy and cold March down here in Brighton which has meant that I’ve been layering up in hoodies and sweatshirts because Spring who?! There is nothing that makes me want to stay inside more than the miserable English weather, so March saw many hours on Netflix and trips to the Cinema. As well as that, this month, The Weeknd graced us with new music and no doubt I have had it on continuous repeat since…
Staying Cozy and Comfortable can be Cheap!
Hoodies & Sweatshirts: Gildan, Thrifted, Topman
Is it really Spring/Summer in England if it wasn’t cold and raining 24/7? I’ve constantly found myself hiding in oversized hoodies and sweatshirts when I should be wearing jeans and t-shirts! Funnily enough, my favourite sweatshirt is actually thrifted from one of the many vintage shops in Brighton. And some of my favourite hoodies and sweatshirts are just plain Gildan blanks from Amazon.
Pinstripe trousers: Pull & Bear
After purchasing them a few months back, they’ve proven to be a very decent buy – they’ve maintained their original colour and fit, and there are no obvious signs of wear. Paired with a simple jumper or even a shirt, these pinstripe trousers have seen me through the month of March.
Exploring areas around Sussex
Located just one hour away (by bus) from Brighton, Shoreham-by-Sea is a quiet little seaside town perfect for a little city break away from all the noise. It is filled with charming independent shops and cafes, as well as vintage and charity stores. Even on a windy March morning, it was still lovely to walk through the town centre, along with the bridge and the beautiful Adur river.
A quick trip to the Cinema…
With (perhaps too many) relatable moments, ‘Lady Bird’ narrates the combative relationship between a teenager and parent during the last year of high school. Saoirse Ronan’s depiction of the teenage protagonist, Lady Bird, portrays so accurately the highs and lows of adolescence.I laughed, I cried, and then I laughed a bit more. It is beautifully acted, filmed, and scripted – all of the characters are written to perfection.
This month’s best release goes to….
The Weeknd – My Dear Melancholy,
The Weeknd is back! And he’s back with bangers too. This 6-song record tapped into everyone’s feelings with his Trilogy-esque lyrics and overall sound. It’s been on constant repeat since its release, and the EP is expected to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 200. I’m gonna keep vibing to this EP for the next month… or two.
My Instagram favourite in March is:
Shameela (@mee.l.a) is a friend of mine whose style varies between streetwear and chic. Signed to Elliot Brown Agency, Shameela doesn’t shy away from the camera, and this month saw more fashion-related Instagram posts which put her at the top of my favourites list! What I love about @mee.l.a’s style is that she mixes high street so nicely with high-end fashion. With a great eye for colour palettes and complementary tones, Shameela takes trendy pieces and makes them her own. I can’t wait to see what she brings in SS 18.
These are my favourites in March! Let me know if you’ve also been loving the same sorts of clothing or listening to The Weeknd on constant repeat.
